Zd30 oil leaks are quite common unfortunately, and some can be difficult to find.

Below are a list of the most common oil leaks found on both zd30di and zd30crd

The most common one that is hard to spot is the injector tube seals leaking engine oil out past them. On Nissan patrols you have a intercooler blocking inspection of the tube seals so you will need to remove it to find the leak. Your best to remove intercooler wash down the engine then test drive and confirm that’s your leak. Zd30 navaras don’t have a intercooler so to spot it’s quite easy.

The next common Zd30 oil Leak Is the valve cover gasket this commonly leaks from the back area running down the bell housing, this can confuse some and make them think the rear main seal is leaking. Always wash the engine down and start looking from leaks from the top. This is both di and crd engines.

Then you also have the Zd30 rear main seal oil leak this one is a pain in the but to do, it requires the gearbox to be removed for this job to be completed. This is both di and crd engines.

Of the valve cover in where the injectors sit, these have a rubber seal around them that are quite common to leak. Unfortunately the seal is part of the valve cover and is not replaceable, you need to buy the whole valve cover, not the cheapest exercise I know.

Another common oil Leak is the oil filter holder cap, this has a oring supplied with the oil filter when you buy one, some brands don’t have the best seals and can leak between services.

Most of the other parts that can leak oil on a Zd30 are not common to unless someone has been there before and not sealed it properly.
